Run Through the Jungle encore performance will be held at the Center for Education and Performing Arts (CEPA) in Pell City on March 24. The WingNuts, a local band of aviation enthusiasts – some veterans themselves – originally came up with the idea of playing a veterans fundraiser, and the final product was the result of months of planning by many in the community. CEPA’s most popular performance from the past two years, a Veterans Day Tribute show featuring The WingNuts, is returning to the Center for Education and Performing Arts (CEPA) stage on March 24. The performance in November was the highlight of CEPA’s Fall Season, and fans demanded it return as soon as possible.

“So many people told us they wished they could have been there,” said Donnie Todd, lead guitarist for The WingNuts. “Others told us right after the first show that we needed to make it an annual event. We decided an encore was definitely in order.”

The show is titled “Run Through the Jungle” after the iconic Creedence Clearwater Revival song. It featured a collection of popular songs from the Vietnam War era performed while images from that time period scrolled on the screen in the CEPA theater.

The November performance served as a fundraiser for local veterans, raising more than $7,000 for St. Clair County Veterans Outreach. A primary goal for sponsors of the November show was to be sure all veterans who wanted to attend had an opportunity, and CEPA will again seek sponsors to cover tickets for local veterans.

If you or your business would like to support tickets for veterans, or if you’d like to know more about the show, contact CEPA at pellcitycepa@gmail.com or call 205-338-1974. Tickets are on sale at pellcitycepa.com/tickets

The Wingnuts have been making music together since 2011 and play throughout the southeast. They include a District Judge, a Commercial Pilot, an Engineer (not the train kind), a farm equipment sales person, a retired police officer, a real estate mortgage specialist, and a retired domestic goddess.
