Pell City man indicted for sexual abuse, sodomy

A Pell City man was indicted by a grand jury for one count of sodomy and one count of sexual abuse.

Gregory “Lee” Bowman, 29, was indicted for second degree-sexual abuse and second degree sodomy by a St. Clair County Grand Jury.
Bowman, who was arrested February 4, had previously worked for Eden Westside Baptist Church as the Director of Health and Wellness. He resigned form that position last fall.
The church has made no official comment on the case.
Bowman was also affiliated with a youth camp and nursery in the area. Following an investigation by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, Bowman was indicted by a Grand Jury.
He will make his initial appearance in court on March 9 before Circuit Judge Jim Hill. Bowman remains free after posting a $10,000 bail.
According to officials, second degree sodomy isĀ “deviate sexual intercourse with a minor between the ages of 12 and 16 years old.” Second degree sexual abuse is “sexual contact with a child between the ages of 12 and 16 years old.

Authorities said that both charges again Bowman are Class B felonies and, if convicted, Bowman could face two to 20 years on each count.
