(Column) All About Ashville by Tara Crisan Sweatt

The Masonic Lodge has been around for a long time. The date of its beginning is obscure. Historians put it between 1599 and 1721. The original members invented a mythical history for themselves that they could trace their lineage all the way back to King Solomon.

Now, it is less about bloodlines and more about what they can do for the community. Their first purpose is socializing. The second is initiating new members. Then they promote values such as brotherly love and truth. They also do charity work.

To take part in one of their events is to be apart of a long, story and proud history. It is also an opportunity to contribute to the community. They can also be a lot of fun.

Anyone willing to travel to Moody for breakfast Saturday, Nov. 9, will be taking part in all of this.

The Moody Masonic Lodge is hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 -9 a.m.

Enjoy bacon, sausage, biscuits, hash browns, eggs, pancakes, grits, orange juice, tomato gravy, sausage gravy comma coffee and orange juice. and all for only $7!

Our next holiday will require a lot of shopping, cooking and questions. Yams or sweet potatoes? Cranberry sauce or cranberries salad? Do we put the twins at the kid’s table or the adult table? My advice is to give them their own if you can.

So, try to take this morning to enjoy someone else’s efforts. Socialize with your St. Clair County residents. Contribute to the community. Have some real down home cooking.

So take this opportunity. Fill your belly at an amazing price. Celebrate everything the Masonic Lodge stands for.

Have a great week, Ashville, and bon appetit!
