Talk about town is the much awaited for Three Earred Rabbit restaurant. It has been a long time coming to have a restaurant in downtown Leeds and everyone is very excited.  Leeds is the second location with Trussville being the first.  Boasting of everything made from scratch with family recipes, the menu includes sandwiches, soups, desserts and a large selection of baked goods.  The Three Earred Rabbit is an old-fashioned soda fountain and sandwich shop which makes it a perfect match for historic downtown Leeds.  This Leeds location opened on Tuesday.  Their hours for the rest of this week are Thursday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., Saturday: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Sunday: 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  Their ribbon cutting is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 9 a.m. and their grand opening will be the same day.  This new place is sure to be a crowd pleaser!

Chick-fil-A Leeds hosted a cookie gram fundraiser for Leeds Elementary School last week.  They also visited the Moody Senior Center on Valentine’s Day.  The senior ladies were just beautiful all decked out in their red to celebrate the special occasion.  We really appreciate everything that our Chick-fil-A does for the greater Leeds/Moody area.  They are truly a great community team player!

The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce will host their monthly luncheon at 11:45 a.m. today, Feb. 21 at Leeds First United Methodist Church Family Life Center.  Lunch is $12 ($15 for no reservation and nonmembers).  Our famous LES Jump Rope Team will perform.  Guest speaker will be Kelly Klein, Program Manager of Northeast Region CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates, a volunteer-based program that is appointed by the judge to give abused and neglected children a voice in court).  Please RSVP to Sandra McGuire at 205-699-5001.

Final performances at Leeds Theatre & Arts Center for “The 39 Steps” will be this Friday-Sunday, Feb. 22-24.  “The 39 Steps” is a comedy based on characters from the novel and movie, but handled in a Monty Python style with actors performing multiple roles.  The script that will be performed was developed by Simon Corble, Nobby Dimon and adapted by playwright, Patrick Barlow.  This reincarnation of The 39 Steps is performed by a small community theatre company of only four actors.  Lots of quick costume changes, English, Scottish and German accents, train rides, airplane crashes, a hero wrongly accused of murder who eventually clears his name and finds love on the Scottish moors…this show has it all!  Suellen Wilkins directs this comic mayhem.  The arts gallery will open one hour prior to performances.  Please call 205-699-1892 for ticket reservations at $10 per person.

Moody City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25 at Moody City Hall.

The Martini Shakers will perform at Leeds Arts Council on Saturday, March 2.  These performers, Jory Lee, Billy Long, Ford Boswell and Ron Dometrovich rekindle the raw and unrestrained swing of Memphis rockabilly the way it sounded in 1955.  You’ll hear songs by a host of great heritage artists such as Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, Hank Williams, Sr., Eddie Cochran, Roy Orbison and many others.  Tickets are $15.

The 5th Annual Miracles in Motion 5k is set for Saturday, March 9 to continue raising money for a much-needed field replacement with Moody Miracle League.  So far, they have raised over $7k toward their goal of $150k to replace their field once the goal is reached.  This year, their race course has been certified with USA Track & Field which should help increase the number of individuals who will participate in the race.  Different corporate sponsorships levels and t-shirt sponsorships are available.  Register as a participant in the 5k, 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk/Roll and Sleep In at https://bit.ly/2CxV4M6.  For more information, please call 205-225-9444.
