The first IMPACT Leadership Summit was held last weekend at Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum and there’s been a lot of buzz about it this week.
The conference was designed to provide training to help emerging leaders develop or improve their leadership skills and professionalism. IMPACT is an acronym standing for Integrity, Mirroring, Promptness, Attitude, Compensation and Transformation.

Speakers included Jacky Connell, senior pastor of Eden Westside Baptist Church, Scott Robinson, Owner-Operator of Leeds Chick-fil-A and Michael DeSocio, Events Manager and Corporate Membership Sales Manager at Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum. The Community Panel included John Moore, Leeds City School Superintendent and Leeds native, Antoinette Madison, Leeds Alabama Power Business Office Manager, Brad Pool, Cahawba Financial, Inc. and lifelong resident of Leeds, David Cobbin, National Sales Manager and Pastor of Fountain of Life Christian Church and Michael DeSocio.
Connell is a pastor, author, motivational speaker and conference leader. He founded JC Impact Ministries a number of years ago, which provides leadership training resources. Prior to the ministry, Connell worked in the corporate world, worked his way up from the bottom and was encouraged and inspired by one of his first supervisors.
Within a few years, Connell was training personnel all over the country in the environmental business world and has continued to have a heartbeat for inspiring leadership throughout more than 30 years as a pastor. He has authored two books, “Painkillers” and “Palm Tree Living.”
JC Impact Resources include a monthly business training event called Power Lunch held at Eden Westside’s Pell City campus and a training-mentoring video each month called Lift-Off Leadership Principles for Ministry, a great tool for churches and businesses. IMPACT Leadership Summit was birthed after the realization that many young people in today’s job market lack soft skills needed to excel in life.
JC Impact will host the next summit at Barber’s in May and others will be scheduled throughout the state this year. For information on this and other leadership resources, please visit www.JCImpact.org.
