Last week I mentioned that my family was coming to my house for Thanksgiving. Since my sister is a bit of an overachiever when it comes to cleaning and organizing, I decided that I should probably put in at least half an  effort into getting my house ready for their arrival. My sister and I are not alike in any way when it comes to our housekeeping skills. Her floors, you can eat of off. My floors you can eat off of them if you want, but you will probably want to wash it first. I’m also a pack rat, which means I keep everything and I have a hard time parting with any of it. Which also results in a lot of “I can’t believe you still have this”. Of course I have it. Just because I haven’t needed it yet, doesn’t mean I won’t need it someday.

Let’s get to the news.

The City of Odenville hosted the Annual Trunk or Treat to a huge turn out. Bounce houses, hay rides and lots of trick-or-treating were on hand for the festivities. Thank you to the City of Odenville, the Odenville Police Dept. and the Odenville Fire Dept for making a safe and fun place for families to enjoy Halloween.

The Odenville Chamber of Commerce honored Veterans at their November meeting. Guest speaker was Kathy Burttram with both the St. Clair County Historical Society and the Springville Preservation Society. Kathy provided information on a first edition book/booklet/listing of Veterans of St. Clair Count and other projects that are going on in our community. Next meeting will be December 3 at 11:30 at Odenville Presyterian Church.

The walls came tumbling down…the press box and concession stand walls that is. Equipment was moved in to remove what was left of the burned building to make way for a new structure. Per SCC BOE Superintendent-Elect Mike Howard, once demolition is complete school officials will be working with architects to determine a way redo the home bleachers and press box. The Saints Shack will be utilized for a concession stand. The project is slated to be completed over the next couple of months.
