The Springville Cross Country Team competed on November 2 at Hewitt-Trussville High School.
Eight schools competed: Hewitt-Trussville, Hoover, Mountain Brook, Oak Mountain, Spain Park, Thompson, Vestavia, and Tuscaloosa County. The top four teams from Friday’s race will advance. Springville will advance to the AHSAA State Meet on Saturday Nov. 10 after a second place finish for the boys and a fourth place for the girls at the Sectional Tournament.
Springville Elementary School announced on October 31 that they have ordered the new playground equipment thanks to the generosity of the community. Springville Elementary School Library also received a generous donation of computers and printers presented by Mr. and Mrs. Workman.
The Hugs and Stitches group from Springville First UMC toured the Springville Historical Society Museum on Thursday, October 18.
Springville High School is planning a fundraiser for alumni, Nick Roberts to support him in his battle against cancer. The Alumni Games will be held at SHS on Sunday, November 11.
The City of Springville’s Christmas Open House will be November 15. Local merchants will be open until 8 p.m. for all of your shopping needs. Also, on Friday November 16 at 6 p.m., bring your blankets for Movies in the Park, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. Free hot chocolate, popcorn, cotton candy and food trucks.
Springville First United Methodist Church is hosting a Christmas Craft & Bazaar on Saturday, November 10 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. with 10% of all proceeds benefiting the Springville Quarterback Club and Band Boosters.

The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Rates are $25 for two hours, $50 for four hours and $100 per day. Contact Sara Trotter or reservations at 205-467-3000.

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes two hour classroom training and two hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
