Hello Readers! After a short sabbatical, I’m back with this week’s edition of What’s Up in Odenville.
Fall is finally here after an extended summer. Its my favorite time of year, everything has that certain feel to it and the wonderful smells get me ready for the holidays. I personally have been waiting on cooler weather since August – as I may or not be just tad fluffier than I used to be. The heat and I are not on the best of terms, mostly because I no longer “glisten” I just downright sweat like a pig at a bacon-eating contest. The best thing about cooler weather…LAYERS! They disguise the fat rolls.

Let’s get to the news….
A fire destroyed the concession stand and the pressbox at the SCCHS football field early Friday morning. School administrators worked swiftly to have the home game scheduled against Munford for Friday night to be moved to Moody High School, as the Blue Devils played an away game. In an extreme gesture of goodwill, Munford’s Band Booster and Quarterback Club each donated $250 towards rebuilding the burned structure. What an amazing show of compassion! This Friday’s Homecoming game at Springville will be played at Springville.
Congratulations to the OYAA 8U (Carr) Saints on finishing Runner-Up in the Trussville Fall Tournament! They finished with a 4-1 tournament record and this was their first loss of the season. Great job girls!
Friday night there will be a booth set up at the Homecoming game to sell all the remaining tickets for the drawing for a Yeti 65 Cooler, Golf Cart, 5 Night Carnival Cruise and Farm House Furniture! Tickets are $10 and will benefit band and athletics. So, everyone bring an extra $10, stop by the booth and get your ticket!
North Valley Church will host a Trunk or Treat this Saturday from 5-7. Everyone welcome.
The City of Odenville will host a Trunk or Treat next Wednesday, Halloween night, from 5-7 p.m. on Alabama Street in front of City Hall. Everyone welcome to set up a trunk or table and is free to the public.
