The Springville Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Springville hosted SpringFest 2018 on Saturday, August 11 with carnival rides, vendor booths, food trucks and local talent including performances by Miss Springville Abbey Smith and the Springville High School Marching Tiger Band.

The Springville Anglers, Mason Beck and Brent Cowley and boat captain Chris Beck, competed at the Mossy Oak Bassmasters High School National Tournament on Kentucky Lake in Paris, Tenn. on August 2 through August 4. Brent and Mason’s two day total weight was 9 lbs 11 oz, putting them in 114th place among 284 boats competing with anglers from across the nation.

Springville Public Library hosted a Homeschool Breakfast Aug. 3 for building connections with other homeschool moms and kids at this August. The Homeschool Breakfast included this year’s upcoming homeschool events at Springville Public Library.

Downtown Doodles shirts will be on sale at the Historical Society Museum. They are printed on both sides with Doodles of main street from the 4-Way Stop down to about New Talladega Road. The City Museum of the Springville Preservation Society has a limited quantity so, if you want one, be sure to drop by on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. If you have questions please contact the gift shop manager at 205-542-4330 or 205-467-6051.

The Springville Farmers Market is open every weekend at its new location adjacent to Big Springs Park.

Springville Elementary School is hosting a Back to School Bash and Food Truck Rally on August 25 at 4 p.m.

Springville Senior Center

  • The Springville Senior Center has quilting classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • The Springville Senior Center offers a Sunrise Walking Group. They meet on Fridays at the bridge at Big Springs Park at 9:30 a.m.
  • The Springville Senior Center offers Beginner Computer Classes. Classes are every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Springville Public Library. All seniors are welcome.  Register in the Main Library or call 205-467-2339.

  • Kids and Kin will host 2 meetings  – (Kids and Kin is a FREE statewide program to provide support and assistance for grandparents, aunts, uncles, and older siblings who provide child care for their relatives’ children.) 
  • Aug. 14 – “Ten Ways for Busy Caregivers to Find Their Zen in 5 Minutes,” meets in main library, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Aug. 16, 23, 30 – Preschool Story Time – Meets in the annex every Thursday beginning August 16, 10:30 a.m.
  • Homeschool Open House will be on Wednesday, September 19 at 10 a.m.

The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Rates are $25 for 2 hours, $50 for four hours and $100 per day. Contact Sara Trotter or reservations at 205-467-3000.

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes two hour classroom training and two hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The next class will be posted soon. 

The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
