Springville Elementary School Principal Gregory Moore, Guidance Counselor Tami Spires and Superintendent Jenny Seals accepted an award in Montgomery on August 3. Springville Elementary was selected as one of twenty-one schools, three from each of Alabama’s seven Congressional districts, to be recognized as Bicentennial Schools of Excellence. These schools will participate in commemoration ceremonies in Montgomery on December 14, 2019 and will be recognized by the governor for their achievement. This honor begins a year-long project that will benefit the Springville community.
The Springville Anglers, Mason Beck and Brent Cowley and boat captain Chris Beck competed at the Mossy Oak Bassmasters High School National Tournament on Kentucky Lake in Paris, Tenn on August 2 through August 4. Brent and Mason weighed in with 7.3 lbs, putting them in 72nd place, among 340 boats on Day 1.

Spring Valley Baptist and Faith Community Fellowship provided breakfast for the Springville School staff as they prepared to begin the 2018-2019 school year.
Springville Civil Air Patrol, Al-126 squadron members went to NESA (National Emergencies Services Academy). Major Michael McEntyre, Captain Keith Morris, Captain Kenneth McEntyre and C/CMSgt Major Wilson all did an outstanding job there.

Downtown Doodles shirts will be on sale at the Springville Museum from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. They are printed on both sides with Doodles of Main Street from the 4-way stop down to about New Talladega Road. - The Springville Senior Center has quilting classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- The Springville Senior Center offers a Sunrise Walking Group. They meet on Fridays at the bridge at Big Springs Park at 9:30 a.m.

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course which is open to the public. The course includes 2 hour classroom training and 2 hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
