The Springville Campus of Faith Community Fellowship cooked Springville Middle School teachers an appreciation lunch on May 24 as the 2017-2018 school year closed out.

Springville’s Movies in the Park at Big Springs Park will be held, Saturday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m. showing  PADDINGTON 2 after dark. Plan to come early; Icebergs Italian Ice, 900 Degrees Catering (pizza) and Southland BBQ will be selling food. Springville area Churches have scheduled free cotton candy/popcorn and lots of games. The Splash Pad will be open until the movie starts.

The Springville Farmers Market is open at its new location adjacent to Big Springs Park every weekend.

Springville Library Happenings:

Summer Reading Registration begins for the whole family on May 22 and continues through the summer. This year’s theme is Libraries Rock.

June 7 the Library will host 6th Day Creatures Animal Adventures for the Summer Reading Program.

Story Time with Anna and Elsa on Wednesday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Thomas Train Stations will be featured on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. on June 12.

Story Time with Ann Dorer will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Springville Library.

The Library will feature Miss Kit’s Bubble School for Summer Reading

Thursday at 11 a.m. on June 14. 

June 14 the Library will host the Harry Potter Club for Teens on Thursday at 5 p.m.

The.Springville Public Library will host a Back to School Reading Readiness Review at 10:30 a.m. for two dates on July 25 and July 26.

Clearbranch UMC is hosting AMPED! Live Fully Alive on June 11 – June 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 8051 Glenn Road, Trussville, AL 35173. Open to children 4K – 5th grade. Contact clearbranch.org for more information.

Reeves Grove Baptist will host SHIPWRECKED VBS on June 11-15 from 6 -8:30 p.m.

July 15-19, CrossKids at Cross Point will host SMASH from 6 – 8:30 p.m. Contact http://www.crosskids.info for more information.SMASH is a fun-filled FREE week of Bible study, worship, and activities of your child’s choice. This is for all children who will complete 4K-5th grade this school year. Spots for the various activities are limited, so sign your child up soon!

The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Rates are $25 for 2 hours, $50 for four hours and $100 per day. Contact Sara Trotter or reservations at 205-467-3000. 

The Springville Senior Center offers a Sunrise Walking Group. They meet on Fridays at the bridge at Big Springs Park at 9:30 a.m.

The Springville Senior Center offers Beginner Computer Classes. Classes are every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Springville Public Library. All seniors are welcome.  Register in the Main Library or call 205-467-2339.

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes 2 hour classroom training and 2 hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
