Springville Schools Happenings:

Springville Elementary School celebrated Principal Greg Moore for National Principal Week. The students made cards from each class and the PTO, teachers and staff gave him a party in appreciation.

The Springville PTO sponsored the 2nd Annual Coin Drive for the week of April 30 through May 4 to benefit the proposed Springville Elementary School playground. They raised $12,751.59.

The Springville High School Lady Tiger Soccer team visited the Elementary School students on May 3 and greeted students in the car line.

Springville Elementary School hosted the “1st Annual Spring Fling & Food Truck Rally” on Saturday, May 5 from 2 – 8 p.m. with live music, kids activities and local vendors. Proceeds benefited the proposed Springville Elementary School playground.

The Springville High School boys baseball team advanced to the final rounds of the State Playoff on Monday, May 7 in Russellville.

The Springville High School Lady Tigers Softball Team have won the Area Championship and will now advance to the Regional Tournament to defend their State Championship title.

Springville Library Happenings:  

Congratulations to Super Star Readers Noah and Levi for being the library’s first readers to reach their goal of 1000 Books Before Kindergarten!

Book Club meets May 11 in the Main Library at 10 a.m.

American Girl Crafting Club for children ages 6-12 meets in the Annex at 10:30 a.m. on May 12.  Registration is requested.          

Summer Reading Registration begins for the WHOLE FAMILY on May 22.       

The Springville Cafe celebrates its 23rd Anniversary of business this month. Happy Birthday!

Springville’s famous Homestead Hollow Arts and Crafts Festival will be held May 11 through May 13. Contact http://homesteadhollow.com for more information.

The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Rates are $25 for 2 hours, $50 for four hours and $100 per day. Contact Sara Trotter or reservations at 205-467-3000.

The Springville Senior Center offers a Sunrise Walking Group. They meet on Fridays at the bridge at Big Springs Park at 9:30 a.m. 

The Springville Senior Center offers Beginner Computer Classes. Classes are every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Springville Public Library. All seniors are welcome.  Register in the Main Library or call 205-467-2339.

Christ Community Church is offering monthly “Art Days” for kids ages 6-12, for $5. Register at art.springville.info

The Church at Bradford Road is offering a Divorce Support Group for Children every Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Contact 205-467-7376.

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes 2 hour classroom training and 2 hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The next class will be posted soon. 

The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
