Springville Elementary Kindergarten Round-Up will take place on Thursday, April 12 at 8:30 a.m. and registration will take place Thursday, April 19.

The historic Laster’s Sundries on Main Street in Springville will open on Wednesday, April 4 from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. serving 58 flavors of ice cream, including low sugar, dairy free and nut free.

The Springville Public Library hosted Miss Kit’s Bubble Show and 6th Day Creatures for Spring Break week in the Children’s Annex.

The Springville Public Library book for April’s meeting of the Book Club will be “Carrying Albert Home” by Homer Hickam. They meet on the second Friday of each month at 10:00 AM.

Springville’s famous, Homestead Hollow Arts and Crafts Festival will be held, May 11 through May 13. Contact http://homesteadhollow.com for more information. 

The Springville Preservation Society will hold its 5th Annual Luncheon and Fashion Show to benefit the Rock School Restoration Project on April 18. Contact Jo Ann Benton to volunteer 205-467-6542.

The Public Works Department announced that you can now pay your Springville SPWD water and sewer bill online. www.springvillealabama.org

The Springville Senior Center started its Beginner Computer Classes. Classes are every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Springville Public Library. All seniors are welcome.  Register in the Main Library or call 205-467-2339.

The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Rates are $25 for 2 hours, $50 for four hours and $100 per day. Contact Sara Trotter or reservations at 205-467-3000.

Local Churches:

  • The Springville Presbyterian Church has been undergoing a restoration. The church was able to recover the upholstery this past week. The church is one of the oldest churches in the area. Donations to fund the restoration can be made to the Springville Presbyterian Church Foundation at P.O. Box 429, Springville, AL 35146.
  • Christ Community Church is offering monthly “Art Days” for kids ages 6-12, for $5. Register at art.springville.info
  • Christ Community Church is offering Grief Share classes. http://griefshare.springville.info
  • The Church at Bradford Road is offering a Divorce Support Group for Children every Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Contact 205-467-7376.

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes 2 hour classroom training and 2 hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6pm – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
