Now that the weather is getting more Spring-like, I’ve decided that I am going to try my hand at planting some shrubbery and flowers. I also need to clear out some brush in order to deem my yard area an actual “yard”. Sounds simple enough, right?
It isn’t.

Why, you ask? Well, because I have no idea what I am doing and I have been known to have what is called a “black thumb”. I want my yard to look pretty, I just don’t have any clue how to achieve that. My past experience with greenery resulted in what we we call “expired” plants everywhere. Spider plant- dead. Elephant ears – dead. Aloe vera plant – you guessed it. Dead. Cactus – gone to the great flower garden in the sky. These are indoor plants. Goodness knows what will happen with outdoor plants. Probably end up in my “garden graveyard.”
Congrats to Odenville Intermediate School (OIS) fourth grader Nicholas Barclay on winning the 2018 St. Clair County History Fair. Using the Ash family as inspiration for his project, Barclay recreated the Ash Newton Cabin and The John Ash House. Excellent work Nicholas!
OIS raised a total of $1,613.68 for Leukemia and Lymphoma Awareness! We are blessed to be able to make this generous donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Mrs. Blankenship’s class raised the most money with $300.54. Awesome job gang!
The news just keeps getting better at OIS! Davey at 104.7 WZZK delivered 4th grade teacher Mrs. Lovell the “Terrific Teacher Award”. She was nominated by two of her students. Way to go Mrs. Lovell!!
Saints Baseball is hitting them out of the park with wins over Victory Christian and Fultondale. Saints Softball had a huge win over Leeds Monday night in a come from behind score of 12-11. Way to go teams!
OYAA will have pre-season tournaments beginning with softball March 15-17 and baseball 19-24. Opening Day is March 31.
