Cornelius named Kiwanis Teacher of the Month

Melanie Cornelius, second grade teacher at Iola Roberts Elementary School, was named the Kiwanis Teacher of the Month for November. Cornelius has been teaching for three years at Iola.
“I love incorporating technology into my classroom because it’s our job to prepare students for the 21st century work environment,” Cornelius said.

She was recently awarded a grant for a small robot for her classroom, which she will use to teacher students how to code, and problem solve with technology.
“We have some exciting things in store for students at Iola Roberts,” said Cornelius. “And I am excited that they are going to have the technology at their fingertips to take them on their next adventure.”
Cornelius received a certificate and $100 to use in her classroom.
