Springville Civil Air Patrol Cadet Squadron AL-126 presented the colors at the recognition of the ALANG Pilots killed during the Bay of Pigs (Cuba) at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Springville’s Police and Fire Department have teamed up to host an event called “Springville Night Out” featuring many of the city, county and state’s emergency resources. Bring your family for a first hand preview with live demos of the first responders in our area. Highlights of the day include: Helicopters, S.W.A.T., D.A.R.E, a K-9 Unit, Tow Trucks, Ambulances, a Bomb Squad, emergency situation demos and more.

Springville Schools
Congratulations to the Springville Anglers for their placing in the Bass Nation High School tournament on Wheeler Lake in Decatur, Alabama. Boat captain, Kenny Pannell with senior anglers, Logan Henderson and Steven Swann placed 7th with 14.26 lbs. Placing in this tournament means they are now qualified for the state competition on Eufaula Lake in June. Also congratulations to Boat captain, Buddy Bowers with anglers, Brock Bowers and Rocky Jonio who came in 13th place with 12.89 lbs.
Congratulations to Macy Freeman for being awarded a $500 scholarship on April 12 by the St. Clair County Education Association! Macy is one of four recipients of this scholarship.

Springville Preservation Society
Walking Tours of Downtown Springville every Saturday morning in April, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet at the Springville Museum and Archives, 6496 U. S. Highway 11, across from the Methodist Church. There is no charge to visit the museum or for the guided walking tours. For more information, call 205-837-2586.
The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes two hour classroom training and two hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
