The 4th grade students from Springville Elementary toured the Capitol in Montgomery on March 6.

The young readers at the Springville Public Library celebrated Dr. Suess’ Birthday on March 7.

The Springville Anglers Fishing Team competed in The Airport Marine Tournament at Lay Lake on March 2. Congratulations to Logan Henderson and Noah Butler for finishing 15th.

Congratulations to the Springville High Track Team for competing in the Metro Birmingham JV Meet at Mountain Brook High on March 5. The following athletes placed in the top 10: Sydney Hutcheson, Javelin; Abby Hill, Shot Put; Logan Andrews, Brock Bowers, Austin Hammonds, 110 meter hurdles; and Brock Bowers, Austin Hammonds, 300 meter hurdles. The relay team finished 6th. Fourteen school teams competed in the Meet. 

The St. Clair County School Board is offering citizens the opportunity to vote on the 2019-2020 school calendar for the next school year. Voting for the three proposed calendars can be made from a link through the St Clair County Schools homepage at http://www.sccboe.org/.

Kindergarten Roundup will be the morning of March 21 at SES. This is an opportunity for upcoming kindergartners and their parents to meet the teachers and staff at SES. Details will be forthcoming soon.

The Springville Preservation Society is hosting The 6th Annual Springville Preservation Society Spring Fashion Show to benefit the Old Rock School Restoration.on Tuesday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at Springville First UMC. The show will feature entertainment, food, and the latest fashions. $20 per ticket. Fun time for all. Only 200 seats available.  Call for your tickets at 205-467-6051.

The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes two hour classroom training and two hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
