Incoming Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce President Dona Bonnett speaks to the attendees.

Christmas 2018 has come and gone.  I truly hope that you had some time to enjoy some great food and time with family and friends.  Most of all, I hope you had some time to meditate on what Christmas is all about.  I am so thankful that we have a Savior named Jesus that came to earth as that little baby, lived here a few short years and then gave His life that we may have an abundant life here on earth as well as an eternity in heaven, if we believe.

Congratulations are in order for the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce Chamber of Commerce award recipients:  Business of the Year – Lehigh Cement, Non-Profit of the Year – Moody Miracle League, First Responder of the Year – Scott Shell, Volunteer of the Year – Alesia Christopher, Ambassador of the Year – Donna Coates and Teen Volunteer of the Year – Zoe’ Champion.  Each is very deserving of recognition and we thank them for their contribution to the greater Leeds area.  It’s people and companies like this that make our community a better place to live, work and play.

We all had a great time at the awards luncheon.  The new board members were sworn in by Mayor Miller.  Brad Pool was recognized as the Outgoing President and I was recognized as the Incoming President.  This is truly an honor to be able to serve as President next year for the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce and I look forward to exciting plans for 2019.

As we approach the New Year’s holidays, many of us think about setting some New Year’s resolutions or goals to accomplish in 2019.  As you know, nothing is accomplished without some goals.  A goal is nothing more than a dream with a date on it.  The bigger you can dream, the more you can accomplish.  Write it down, put a date on it and then work toward achieving.

Moving onto a few calendar items to take note of, Leeds Lions Club is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3 in the Leeds Masonic Lodge Building.

Leeds Masonic Lodge Community Breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 5 at 8 a.m.  For information, please contact T.V. Weaver at 205-699.6742.
