If you’re not going to wear that old prom dress anymore, we know someone who will

PromPalooza St. Clair is scheduled for Saturday, March 12 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Center for Education and Performing Arts in Pell City.

This is an event that provides prom dresses at no cost to economically disadvantaged high school girls in our community. All participants must be referred by staff, guidance counselors, social workers, or teachers.

Several hundred gowns and accessories will be available for these young ladies to shop for in the “boutique”. Although not required, the YWCA does strongly suggest each student pre-register with their dress size, so that they will have a large selection of dresses for every student.

Help is needed to make this a successful event! Please consider assisting the PromPalooza with one of the volunteer opportunities listed below. To volunteer or learn more, contact Courtney Cook at (205) 338-8808 or ccook@ywcabham.org

Volunteers needed on Friday, March 11th, 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.:

10-12 volunteers to unload and setup gowns, and prepare the dressing rooms. Please dress comfortably and be prepared for a workout! Hundreds of gowns weigh hundreds of pounds!

Saturday, March 12, 8 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.:

*breakfast and lunch will be provided to volunteers*

10-12 “Big Sisters”: stylish, trendy, and friendly women to assist the participants with selecting and fitting gowns and accessories. Also needed to pack up the gowns after event is complete.

2 Seamstresses: volunteers who have the ability and expertise to make minor dress alterations on-site.
