Woman finds boy alone on dark road, his mother’s van crashed in woods

ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA (RNN) – A woman driving in rural Georgia found a boy without a coat, shivering and barefoot in the middle of the road.

“He kept crying and saying, ‘My mommy is bleeding and I hope she doesn’t die,’” Latoya Lewis said.

Lewis said the boy told her his mother was injured in a crash.

Lewis said she will never forget seeing the fear on a little boy’s face, who said he was worried his mom was going to die.

“I’m freezing, my mom just crashed and no one would pull over,” the boy told the woman according to WSB.

The certified nursing assistant wrapped the boy in a sweater and placed him in the back of her car for warmth, WSB reported, and went looking for the car

Lewis called 911 once she found the mangled minivan with the boy’s mom unconscious inside, according to WSB. The boy’s puppy was also recovered.

The child received medical attention and the mother was flown by helicopter to an area hospital.
