Professional wrestlers face off in the ring this weekend in Ragland

“Action” Mike Jackson has been wrestling for 47 years. In his career, he has competed in the WWE, NWA, and WCW, wrestling against names like Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, Ric Flair and more.

Jackson will be bringing the action to Ragland this weekend, for Ragland High School’s band fundraiser. The annual event will feature professional wrestlers competing in four different matches.

Band director Al DeMent has been at Ragland for 10 years and said that each year, this fundraiser is a massive success.

“The things these wrestlers do are amazing, it’s an incredible show.” DeMent said. “It’s a fun way to bring the community together for a great cause.”

Competitors include names like ECWWE champion Johnnie Swinger, David Morgan, and the Ultimate Dragon. The wrestlers will be competing for belts in the championship matches.

“The competitors are all really good this year,” Jackson said. “This event always has a great turn out and is such a fun night.”

The event is a fundraiser for the Ragland High School band. The money raised will go to provide the band with the funds the program needs for travel, uniforms, instrument upkeep and more.

“This is a positive thing for the kids,” Jackson said. “It’s a good fundraiser and always a good time.”

Before the matches begin, there will an Autograph Party 3 – 5:30 p.m. the day of the event, at The Food Barn in Ragland.

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the bell will ring at 7:30 p.m. The event is family friendly and tickets are available now.

Tickets at the door are $10 and advance tickets are $8. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Autograph Party or at the Ragland Back Room.

For more information on the event or to purchase tickets, call (205) 472-2125.
