The Moody Blue Devils could not get anything going because of a much improved John Carroll defense.  The Cavaliers came into Bill Morris Stadium and shut out the Blue Devils 21 – 0. 

The Moody Blue Devils are what John Carroll once was, a young team learning how to win.  John Carroll has gotten there, Moody will get there.  This is the first meeting between these two schools in two years with Moody winning the last one.

We pick it up in the second quarter with the Cavaliers having the football at their 41 yard line.  The drive started with a sack by the Blue Devils Gavyn Baker for a five yard loss.  The Cavs came back with big plays of 13 and 15 yards to put them in Moody territory.  The Cavs closed the drive with a 34 yard touchdown pass.  The extra point was good and John Carroll was ahead 7 – 0.  

The Cavs got the ball late in the second quarter this time at their own 35 yard line.  The drive almost ended when Moody’s Taylor Rothe nearly picked off a Cavs pass.  Later in the drive Kaleb Adams sacks the Cavs quarterback for a big 10 yard loss, but John Carroll came back with a big 21 yard pass play setting them up at the Moody 12 yard line.  Two plays later the Cavs pinched it in from 3 yards out. The extra point was good and Moody trailed 14- 0 at halftime.  

The Cavs defense kept the Blue Devil offense at bay throughout the game.  John Carroll seemingly put the game away late in the fourth quarter.  They started their drive at their own 49 yard line.  Moodys AJ Madison made a play on the ball on second down, but the Cavs converted on third down to keep the drive going.  A few plays later Nick Fuller made another great open field tackle for loss for the Blue Devils, but once again the Cavs answered with a big play to keep the drive going.  John Carroll finally overcame the good defensive effort of the Blue Devils to score from 4 yards out.  That was the final scoring for the night.  John Carroll walks out of Bill Morris Stadium with a 21 – 0 shutout win over Moody.  

Moody falls to 0 – 4 overall, and 0 – 2 in region play.  Moody now has its eyes set on County and Region arch rival St Clair County.  Both teams come into tomorrow night’s game looking for their first win of the season.  Moody 0 – 4 and St Clair 0 – 5.  This will be the 41st  meeting between these two rivals with Moody holding a 23 – 17 edge in the series.  Moody won last years battle 21 – 7.  The two schools have split the last four meetings with Moody winning the last two.  This year’s saga will take place at  St Clair County.  Kickoff for tomorrow night’s meeting will be at 7pm.
