The Great Grown-Up Spelling Bee is returning on March 9! The biggest fundraiser of the year for the St. Clair County Chapter of The Literacy Council of Central Alabama will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Pell City’s Center for Education and Performing Arts.

Three-person teams comprised of willing community members will compete for first, second and third place, as well as “Most Original Team Name,” “Best Costumes,” and the “Spirit Award.”

Last year’s event raised over $1,000 towards The Literary Council’s goal is to end illiteracy in St. Clair County by offering one-on-one tutoring and providing reading materials.

Former Channel 13 WTVM news anchor Mike Royer will once again serve as MC for the popular benefit, and attendees will be offered a chance to enter a drawing for prizes.
