Bond denied for women charged in shooting death of Moody police officer

Marquisha Tyson, 28, of Birmingham who was charged in the death of a Moody police officer has been denied bond.

Judge Bill Weathington released an order Friday stating Tyson had officially been denied bond. The decision was made following a hearing last Wednesday. Tyson will now remain in custody of the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office until convicted or released.

Tyson was charged with capital murder in June after a shooting at the Super 8 motel in Moody that killed Moody police Lt Steven Williams.

The order states that Tyson may pose a danger to the public if released.

Michael Hanle, who represents Tyson along with attorney Emory Anthony asked the court to recognize that Tyson had never been in trouble with law enforcement before her arrest. Hanley argued that Tyson was arrested for simply being in the room. Statements indicate that Tapero Johnson fired all four firearms the night of the murder.
