Groundbreaking held for SpringHill Suites Hotel in Leeds

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday, Jan. 16, to mark the beginning of construction for the new SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Leeds. Attendees include city officials, business leaders and members of the development and construction teams.

The hotel, which will be located adjacent to the Hampton Inn off Rex Lake Road, is being developed and managed by Jackson Hospitality Services. It will feature 116 guest rooms, a full-service lobby bar and an outdoor patio. The SpringHill Suites is expected to open in 2026.

“We are so excited to get started on this project,” Cory Jackson, President of Jackson Hospitality Services said. “This hotel will be a wonderful addition to Leeds, offering guests a high-quality stay experience with spacious suites and thoughtful amenities. We’re proud to be part of the continued growth and success of this city.”

Leeds Mayor David Miller also shared his enthusiasm during the ceremony.

“This hotel represents another step forward in the development of our city,” Miller said. “Leeds is growing and this project is a testament to the collaborative efforts between the city, our partners and the private sector. We are thrilled to welcome SpringHill Suites to our community and look forward to the many opportunities it will bring.”

Jackson expressed gratitude to the many individuals and organizations who helped make the project possible, including the Miller, the Leeds City Council and City Administrator Brad Watson, among others. He also acknowledged the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum for its role in driving local tourism and development in the area.

The ceremony featured the traditional turning of the dirt with ceremonial shovels. Attendees also had the opportunity to meet the Jackson Hospitality team, including project manager Kevin Ivy, general contractor representatives from Pinkerton & Laws and future hotel manager Jessica Cantrell, who was praised as a seasoned and outstanding professional.

Jackson Hospitality Services is a third-generation family business which, currently, manages hotels throughout Alabama and has developed more thann 50 properties nationwide since its founding in 1977.
