‘Tuck Everlasting’ this weekend at CEPA

Lights, camera, action are the words Pell City High School Drama Club members are eager to hear as the curtain goes up on this school year’s last performance “Tuck Everlasting”.

“Tuck Everlasting” is about a family who embodies the secret of immortality. They’re challenged when the man in the yellow suit dares to destroy the magical world the Tuck family knows as reality.

Led by Pell City High School (PCHS) Theatre Director Ginger McCurry, this seasoned cast looks forward to bringing to life this musical production brought to you April 25-27 at 7 p.m. at the CEPA Center and April 28 at 2 p.m. The CEPA (Center for Education and Performing Arts) is located at 25 Williamson Drive in Pell City. Directed by the perfect person for making a musical, McCurry is classically trained and has performed with professional theatre companies as their lead vocalist/actor, musical director and tour manager.

PCHS Drama Club’s performance of “Tuck Everlasting” includes a cast of approximately 31 characters who are ready to enchant audiences with the magical imagery they’ll see on stage. From set design to lighting and stage manager to actors, this crew is ready to bring to life this production.

“Performing arts is my love,” stated McCurry.

This is McCurry’s eighth year at PCHS and 22nd year in education. Previously, she served as the music teacher and did plays at Coosa Valley Elementary School (CVES) for 14 years.

“My first show at CEPA was Annie for Coosa,” said McCurry. From her first show to the latest of Tuck Everlasting, McCurry and the members of the PCHS Drama Club share a common purpose to, “promote and encourage, publicize and provide quality entertainment while also encouraging all students to get involved in the performance arts.”

Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. This will be their last production of the school year.
