Alabama rising stars to perform tonight (Thursday)

Thanks to generous contributions from sponsors in the community, the Center For Education and Performing Arts (CEPA) Comedy Night tonight, featuring the “Queen of Clean,” Comedienne Joy, is now free to the public.

In the second event of CEPA’s Spring Season, three rising stars in Alabama’s comedy scene will take to the stage for a night of clean, family-friendly hilarity and hijinks.

Comedienne Joy, Tim Statum and Deno Posey, all hailing from the Birmingham area, will showcase their uproarious routines for the first time in Pell City. The up and coming comedians are quickly becoming some of the most sought after names in the business with their distinct brand of clever, clean humor.

In Monday’s announcement of the development, the CEPA Board of Directors were thrilled with the opportunity to waive the event charge and what it means for the community.

“(Our) desire is to bring varied types of cultural programming to the area for local residents,” said Jeff Thompson, executive director for CEPA. “We are ecstatic that we can offer this experience free of charge.”

The show will be held at the CEPA Theatre tonight at 7 p.m., with doors open at 6:30 p.m. A VIP Reception will be held beforehand featuring a chance to meet the performers, as well as hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. The reception is free to CEPA members and $20 for non-members.

For more information, call CEPA at (205) 338-1974 or visit pellcitycepa.com.
