The Mustang Museum of America, with almost 100 Mustangs on display from every generation between 1964-1/2 and 2015 is now open to the public. 

The Greater Odenville Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Odenville welcomed the newest attraction to Odenville, along with members of the St. Clair County Commission and the St. Clair County Economic Development Council. 

“We could not be more excited to have this amazing museum here in Odenville,” said Mayor Buck Christian of Odenville.  “The owners have taken such care in collecting and displaying these immaculate vehicles, and we hope to see many visitors come to Odenville to see their collection. We also hope they will spend the day here and visit some of our other local restaurants and businesses.”

The Mustang Museum of America is a non-profit organization, governed by a Board of Directors.  The Museum is housed in a new 31,000 square foot building at 49 Foreman Farm Road in Odenville, directly behind Fred’s on Hwy 411. 

The Museum is “dedicated to the celebration, preservation, education and display of the Ford Mustang” with a goal of displaying at least one Mustang from every year produced from 1964-1/2 to 2015 and also has many special models on display including some that may be the only one remaining in existence.  The Museum has the largest collection of Mustang highway patrol and police vehicles in the world – Special Service Production models that were produced between 1982 and 1993 for various law enforcement or other government agencies.  Although there are other museums with Mustangs on display, this is the only museum open in the United States totally dedicated to the Ford Mustang. 

“This museum is worth coming to see and we hope to see the collection draw as many tourists as it deserves to draw,” said Bruce Mardis, President of the Odenville Area Chamber of Commerce. “It is always great to see new businesses come into town that add to the offerings of our community.” 

The Powell family envisioned a museum dedicated to the Ford Mustang over four years ago.  The journey really started almost 30 years ago when Bob Powell purchased a 1968 Mustang for his son, then a 1968 Mustang convertible for his wife to drive occasionally.  

Growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, known as the Muscle Car Era, Powell has always been around and worked on cars, mostly the Ford brand, so the Mustang was a natural model to start collecting.  The collection the Powell family has accumulated is now on display in the Museum along with other Mustangs on loan or donated by other Mustang enthusiasts.

“We could not be more excited to see such a wonderful display make its home here in Odenville and St. Clair County,” said Chairman Paul Manning of the St. Clair County Commission. “It is really a special collection, and we hope that it is visited often and well received by people from all over the Southeast.”

The museum is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday thru Monday but can be open at other times with prior arrangements.  There is a $15 admission fee to tour the museum showroom, however, there are membership opportunities that provide free admission during the membership period.  For a family of four or more, admission is $45.  The museum has a gift shop with t-shirts, hats and other items for sale to members and visitors.
