Minnesota 4-year-old dies in accidental hanging
MANKATO, Minn. — A 4-year-old boy died Saturday in the dressing room of a Minnesota thrift store, in what authorities are calling an accidental hanging.
First responders were called to the Again Thrift & More store at 5:38 p.m. when the boy was found unresponsive in a dressing room. It appeared that he suffocated after his hoodie got caught on a clothing hook, according to Mankato Police Commander Jeremy Clifton.
Attempts to revive the boy were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at a Mankato hospital.
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune Mankato Police Commander Daniel Schisel called the death “a tragic accident” and said no charges are being pursued.
Fundraising pages started online to help the family with funeral expenses identify the child as Ryu Pena.
