Lakeside Hospice, Christian Love Pantry to raise money through tablescape luncheon

After a successful first run last year, Lakeside Hospice and the Christian Love Pantry are holding their second annual Love Feeds the Soul tablescapes luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at the First United Methodist Church in Pell City.

“Last year, there were over 300 women at First United Methodist Church. We had 30 tables, and everyone thought it was so much fun and so successful that we wanted to do it again this year,” said Lakeside Hospice community relations coordinator Christine Smith.

This year, organizers are planning for 40 tables to decorated in many fun and creative ways with themes from cookbooks to television shows, and even to promote local businesses.

Cash prizes will be awarded for the top 3 table designs.

For $25, attendees will receive lunch, view the tablescapes and hear keynote speaker Susie McClanahan.  Donations will also be taken during the event, and all proceeds will be split between Lakeside Hospice and the Christian Love Pantry.

“For Lakeside Hospice, the money is going toward caring for indigent patients that have no insurance or Medicare/Medicaid doesn’t pay for them,” Smith said. “Last year, we had $50,000 in indigent care expenses at Lakeside, so this money is desperately needed. And the Christian Love Pantry is a freestanding, non-profit company who gives food to those in need. So, the day all comes together to raise funds for two very worthy causes.”
