Lady Sings the Blues at the Pell City Library

Blues enthusiasts will want to save the date on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at noon when the Pell City Library presents “Lady Sings the Blues,” with world-class gospel, jazz and contemporary vocalist, B. J. Reed.

Evoking the nostalgic sounds of Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, and other jazz and blues greats, Reed’s rich vocals have been acclaimed by fans and critics alike, and have garnered her a place at notable events from coast to coast. Ms. Reed currently resides in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, but she will be in Pell City as guest performer for the library’s ongoing Wild and Wonderful Wednesday series.

B. J. Reed discovered her love of music early and went on to develop her own musical education program, which she has presented in schools throughout Alabama. A talented musician, she won the West Alabama Female Vocalist of the Year Award in 1990, 1993, and 1998. She was offered her first professional contract after being seen in competition at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem. She now performs regularly at regional clubs and festivals and is also a vocal instructor with the Alabama Blues Project.

This event is free and open to the public; light refreshments will be served afterwards. This is a performance that you will not want to miss! For more information, contact Susan Mann at the Pell City Library at (205) 884-1015
