What’s Up in Odenville
Hello, Readers! I’m back with this week’s edition of What’s Up in Odenville.
This week I am having a “woe is me, where has the time gone” moment as I prepare for my middle child to graduate high school. I’ve known since the first day of kindergarten this day would come, but it didn’t really dawn on me that it’s two weeks away – until I mailed out the last of the graduation announcements.
I have a 28 year old, so I have been down this road before and it was heart wrenching then too. I remember she made a video with pictures set to the background music of “I’m Not Gonna Cry” by Corey Smith. For those of you that have not heard this song, let me tell you, you can tell yourself you won’t cry, but you WILL…and I did. A LOT.
I tortured myself with that video over and over again until my boss said “That’s ENOUGH. You are making ALL of us cry.”
This time was different. Second child and I’m a pro at graduations now (or so I thought). I mean, I have already had two K-5 graduations and two middle school graduations, so the sudden emotion that hit me unawares almost took my breath away. I’m one child closer to an empty nest and one less child in the house filling my days with laughter, teen crises and eye rolls. If I get through graduation without being a basket case, it will be a miracle.
Let’s get to the news.
TRAVEL
Odenville Elementary School (OES) Assistant Principal Janet Bloomston and hubby Joel recently jaunted off to Jamaica for a friend’s wedding. From the pictures posted on social media, a lot of sun, sand and food took place during their stay.
When asked if they had a good time, Mrs. Bloomston replied, “it was absolutely amazing.”
Glad you had a great time. I am officially jealous!
