The Children’s Place takes a stand against child abuse
The Children’s Place joins forces with the community to raise awareness about Child Abuse Awareness Month. The organization works to address the issue of child abuse in its quest to end it.
On Tuesday, The Children’s Place, a home designed specifically to meet the needs of The St. Clair Children’s Advocacy Center, hosted its annual fundraiser at First Baptist Church Pell City to raise support and awareness for the fight against child abuse.
Guests spent the lunch hour enjoying musical performances from local students. Local school choirs, ensembles, soloists and bands were present to provide entertainment for the event. Guests also had the opportunity to participate in a silent auction in the lobby, all funds going to support the organization’s efforts.
This particular event is held in conjunction with Child Abuse Awareness Prevention Month. April has been recognized as such for over 40 years. Over the decades, the month has served as a time to acknowledge the tragedy that is child abuse and come together to try and prevent it.
Since The Children’s Place opened over two decades ago, it has worked to increase awareness about child abuse through the provision of numerous community programs. They do this through programs catered towards parents and by visiting schools and educating children on abuse and what to do if they find themselves in an abusive situation. The Children’s Place serves thousands of adults and children each year.
