GAS TAX NOT NEEDED

“Just because GASOLINE prices are going down IS NOT A GOOD REASON TO RAISE TAXES!”

As a true conservative REPUBLICAN I believe in lower taxes, cut out WASTEFUL SPENDING, and make sure we have OPEN HONEST GOVERNMENT.

I have IDENTIFIED OVER $1 MILLION per year IN WASTEFUL SPENDING that should be discussed and implemented BEFORE DISCUSSING RAISING YOUR TAXES!

As an example, St. Clair County, like most businesses, DOES NOT PAY INSURANCE AND OTHER BENEFITS TO PART-TIME EMPLOYEES – EXCEPT, St. Clair County PART-TIME COMMISSIONERS ARE PAID OVER $16,000 IN FULL, INCLUDING FAMILY COVERAGE, HEALTH INSURANCE and other insurance benefits PER YEAR!

THAT IS OVER $64,000 PER YEAR! This money could be used to PAVE ROADS, HIRE ANOTHER DEPUTY, or any other use that the County Commission should choose.

St. Clair County could put the Coosa Valley Water Treatment Plant in RESERVE STATUS and save OVER $500,000 PER YEAR! This money could be used to PAVE ROADS, HIRE 8 MORE DEPUTIES, or any other use that the County Commission should choose.

There are many other areas of WASTEFUL SPENDING that could be discussed and implemented BEFORE RAISING YOUR TAXES!

Just a thought. IF the price of coke and potato chips GOES DOWN, does that mean that the COUNTY COMMISSION SHOULD RAISE SALES TAXES TOO???

KILL THE COUNTY GAS AND DIESEL TAX! VOTE FOR STAN BATEMON!
