Trio to Bring the Best of Blues, Jazz, and More to Library’s Wild & Wonderful Event

On Wednesday, Oct. 19 at noon, get ready for the best in Jazz, Blues, and more as the Pell City Public Library welcomes guest musicians, Gary Land, Mike Reeves and Sid Brown, in concert, for its Wild & Wonderful Wednesday series.  This accomplished and multi-talented trio features Land on bass, violin, harmonica and vocals; Reeves at the keyboard; and Brown on the drums.

Gary Land has played Double Bass for 40 years, performing with the Atlanta Pops, the Georgia Symphony, Peachtree Pops and the Chastain Festival Orchestra.  As band leader he has had four of his own party bands, booking and playing the St. Regis in Atlanta for eight years, the Intercontinental Hotel in Atlanta for nine years, and more!  Land played the chromatic harmonica on the television series, Heat of the Night, and was the singing voice of two Aquateen characters for Cartoon Network.  He’s performed with Joni Mitchell, The Moody Blues, Al Jerreau, Brian Wilson, Olivia Newton-John, Michael Bolton, Marvin Hamlisch, Dione Warwick, Jerry Lee Lewis, and others.  Land has played the trumpet and harmonica since the 5th grade, but his musical talent extends to various other instruments and vocals as well.  Now semi-retired, at 62, he enjoys playing trumpet, bass, and violin in the orchestra at Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Vestavia, Alabama, and at various gigs as requested.

Gary Land joins with the talented keyboardist, Mike Reeves, and accomplished drummer, Sid Brown, Band Instructor at the Pell City High School, for the library’s upcoming program.  Expect to hear the best in Blues, Jazz, and more, as the talents of these accomplished musicians comes together for this spectacular event.  The band will perform as part of the libraries ongoing Wild & Wonderful Wednesday series scheduled at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 19.  The event is free, and light refreshments will be served afterwards.
