Week 4: Pell City Highlights and Preview

Opelika 37 Pell City 6

In a wet and wild affair at Pete Rich Stadium, three special teams touchdowns by Opelika sealed the Panthers’ fate last Friday night to break open a defensive struggle, handing the #4 Bulldogs their third win of the season, and dropping Pell City to 2-2 on the year.

The Panthers were held to less than 30 yards of offense, with two field goals by kicker Sergio Alvarez the only points Pell City could muster.

Week Four Preview @ Benjamin Russell

The Panthers’ biggest challenge this week on the road is finding a way to slow down Benjamin Russel’s sensational dual-threat quarterback Tyre Gray. The Wildcats’ playcaller, who also plays safety, is a dangerous read-option quarterback with blistering 4.53-40 yard speed and great field vision. Supported by a great offensive line anchored by the 300-pound tackle Anthony Parker, Benjamin Russell will be a tough not to crack, especially with Gray having the option to tuck-and-run or hand off to the talented senior running back Chase Burton.
