Eden Westside River Campus serves Breakfast for the Brave

Eden Westside Baptist Church River Campus in Leeds served their second Breakfast for the Brave in February. Police cars and Fire trucks filled the parking lot as over 40 local police officers, paramedics, and fire and rescue workers stopped in for breakfast.

Breakfast for the Brave began as a way to reach out to community servants to show them Eden Westside’s support. EWBC River Campus counts it an honor and privilege to serve the brave men and women who serve the greater Leeds area daily. The River Campus wants to be an encouragement and this is just one way they are showing their love to the greater Leeds area and to these professionals that lay their lives on the line each day for our safety.

Brother Scotty Pinson, Missions Pastor, and church volunteers all work together each month to make this event happen and they are very excited about how well the response has been.

This is just one of the exciting things going on at the River Campus. Eden Westside Baptist Church staff and volunteers hit the ground running a little over a year ago when the opportunity presented itself to start up a second campus.

Pastor Jacky Connell and church leadership were not looking to expand beyond their main campus in Pell City, but God had a different idea that manifested itself for them to acquire the church building located on Highway 78 in Leeds just past the Shops of Grand River that has been closed for over 18 months.

It was definitely a God-thing with a great story of how it all came together and the River Campus opened January 11, 2015 with approximately 70 people in attendance. This church campus has had steady attendance and serves the greater Leeds community with God’s love shining through each staff member and volunteer.

The River Campus provides Life Discovery Classes each Sunday morning at 9:35 a.m. for all ages with Worship at 11 a.m. Nursery is provided. On Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., an Adult Bible Study along with Youth and Children’s Ministry activities are provided.

Student Ministry Activities are provided for seventh grade through College and Career on Sundays at 6:30 p.m., which concentrate on character building, relationship building, Christian mentoring and fun. They have enjoyed several bonfires and a couple of weeks ago, the students got together at a member’s home to celebrate Valentine’s Day with plenty of pizza and a movie.

Eden Westside Baptist Church is one church with two campuses. Some of the programs and activities are only available at the Eden campus at the present time and River Campus members enjoy the opportunity to meet and develop relationships with others at the Eden Campus. As the River Campus grows, more programs and activities will be provided.

Their Eden Campus hosted a free carnival on Saturday during their Upward Soccer evaluations. Face painting, Frisbee golf-basketball-soccer activities, fun games, fabulous inflatables were provided along with concession. Everyone had a fun-filled day with many other families. There is still time to sign up for UPWARD Soccer registration for ages five-12. Go to edenwestside.org, click Ministries, then Recreation and scroll to Registration Form.

Eden Westside Baptist Church River Campus is focused on being a positive force in the greater Leeds community through loving people, providing Christian support and mentoring and invites you to visit soon.
