Radio ministry takes back the airwaves

Ministry through music is heard on 88.1 Revocation Radio.

On a mission to “Take Back the Airwaves,” Revocation Radio began broadcasting in 2007 with the goal of helping deliver listeners to Jesus Christ.

“Revocation Radio is a positive, fun station that brings the modern style without the garbage lyrics,” said general manager Jon Walden.

Broadcasting throughout airwaves across Alabama (specifically 88.1 for St. Clair County), Revocation Radio is Christian radio with a twist—nonstop Christian rock and hip hop is played all day every day.

“I’ve always wanted to do this,” said Walden.

As stated on the station’s website, www.myrevradio.com, “Revocation Radio plays music that is the same or better quality as what you would hear in secular music, but with a message of love, hope and peace.”

Helping Walden achieve this goal is former intern turned assistant general manager Anthony “Fried Chicken” Baumann.

Explaining the love he has for his job and the mission of Take Back the Airwaves Ministries, Baumann said it’s all about someone greater.

“God made us out of fertile ground already commissioned to grow things,” he said. “What are we putting into our bodies? We want to bring the positive message of Jesus Christ.”

A ministry first, Take Back the Airwaves (TBTA) Ministries is a 501(c)3 with a board of directors and the intent of leading listeners to a relationship with the King of Kings, Jesus Christ.

“The best thing about Christian radio is the music,” said Walden. “God gave our board president a vision and he hasn’t given up on it.”

In radio since 2001, Walden has seen more than a decade of changes to the industry.

“Radio overall is less supported,” he said. “What we want to do at Revocation Radio is still have that personal interaction. People love hearing their name on the radio. There’s just something about it. For us, it’s about immersing ourselves in community involvement.”

Agreeing with Walden, Baumann added, “We like to partner with other ministries and help them as much as possible. It’s important to share resources.”

Striving to conquer more than the airwaves through TBTA Ministries, Walden says radio is a small part of what they want to do.

“Our 10 year plan is to cover every major market in the country. We also want to do TV production, commercials and video drops for churches,” Walden said. “We’re also looking to launch our own affordable record label called Revocation Records.”

Eager to continue bringing in believers by broadcasting the “truth, way and the life,” Walden and Baumann say Revocation Radio is about relationships and that all good things are God’s.
