Senior Citizen Dance: ‘Everyone loves it’

Live music, dancing and fellowship have people driving to Pell City to enjoy a fun night out.

On the first Friday of the month, the Senior Citizen Center hosts the Senior Citizen Dance from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It costs $5 a person at the front door.

Lisa Stewart, manager at the center, encourages everyone to attend the next dance on July 2. There will be a live, one-man band, Ray Newman, playing “really everything.”

“It’s a good chance to fellowship and get some exercise,” she said. “You see some really good dancing. Everyone loves it.”

During the intermission, Stewart puts on a line dancing CD for those who take the line dancing class at the center.

She said people come from places like Trussville, Talladega, Oxford and Anniston to attend the dances. Stewart encourages everyone, not just senior citizens, to come out once a month.

“Even if you’re not really a dancer, it gives you something to do on a Friday night,” Stewart said.
