Blue Devils Prepped for Mortimer Jordan in Non-Regional After Beating Bulldogs

Moody will celebrate Homecoming tomorrow night at Bill Morris Stadium and will take their chance against Mortimer Jordan. Mortimer Jordan is a team led by seniors who don’t have to play a lot of athletes on both sides. Their loss comes from second-ranked Cullman and a strong Erwin team.

“They have some big kids that will run right at you,” said Wiley. “Coach Watson has done a great job down there and we’ve been preparing all week.”

Kickoff between Moody and Mortimer Jordan starts at 7 p.m. Homecoming Court will be announced at halftime and the Moody Blues Band will perform prior to the game.

The Moody Blue Devils toppled the visiting Ashville Bulldogs last Friday night, 42-12.

It was a well-played night for the Moody defense as three interceptions developed into touchdowns that extended over 82 yards.

The Blue Devils were nine for 14 in their passing game accumulating 74 yards on the night.

Moody Coach Brandon Wiley said the Blue Devils kicking game was also on spot during last week’s game. Blake Spiker went four for four on PAT attempts. Raymond Delfin and quarterback Josh Owen also picked up an extra point a piece for the team.

Dustin Montgomery was Moody’s leading tackler.

Ashville put points on the board late in the second quarter when Kevin Montgomery threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Josh Johnson boosting the Bulldog score by six. He scored again on a four-yard run with approximately five minutes left in play.

The final score had Moody on top 42-12.

Wiley said he was for the most part pleased with Moody’s performance. He added he got a chance to allow younger kids to get some playing time. He said was able to work the backs and concentrate on the Blue Devils’ running game.
