FEMA mitigation specialists will be on hand through Saturday at the Home Depot in Pell City offering free advice to homeowners about making their homes safer, stronger and more storm-resistant.

FEMA has how-to literature, building diagrams and a model of a wood-frame house to showcase ways buildings can be strengthened. Using connectors, straps and ties at key joints can transfer the pressure of high winds from a structure’s roof to its foundation.

The FEMA information displays will be set up from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Pell City Home Depot is located at 289 Vaughn Lane.
