CEPA: A short film produced by CEPA will screen this month in Times Square as part of the world’s largest student film festival. “SEM:COLON” is a short film produced by CEPA’s digital content program Spotlight Studio and directed by now Pell City High School junior Anna Claire Hathorn in 2022. It kicked off many conversations in the community about teen depression, anxiety, and suicide. The production included more than 40 students and adults from St. Clair County. For many, it was their first introduction into the world of filmmaking. It was accepted into and screened at Birmingham’s Sidewalk International Film Festival in 2022. Anna Claire submitted the film this summer to The All-American High School Film Festival (AAHSFF), which is billed as the premier destination for talented high school filmmakers and media arts enthusiasts from around the world. “SEM;COLON” will screen at AMC Empire 25 Theater in Times Square, New York City, on Oct. 21.
