Zoom Motorsports salutes National Guard

Barber Motorsports Park and ZOOM Motorsports have announced that this year’s Barber Superbike Classic will be a Salute to the Men and Women of the Alabama National Guard.  This weekend’s event will be the eighth consecutive AMA Pro Road Racing event held at Barber.

“The Alabama National Guard continually contributes to our state, and this is our chance to give back to them by honoring them through an exciting weekend of racing at Barber Motorsports Park,” said Rick Humphrey, vice president of ZOOM Motorsports, the exclusive event promoter of the Barber Motorsports Park.  “With the devastating tornadoes that hit the state in April, the National Guard has been a vital part of the search and rescue efforts, along with helping Alabama rebuild after this tragic disaster.”

AMA Pro is the premier motorcycle road racing series in the country, and Barber is consistently one of the most-attended events on the AMA Pro annual calendar.

The event will feature a host of events for Guardsmen, including a job fair held at the park on Friday. The job fair will host several Alabama-based companies interviewing for prospective job openings.  There will also be an interview workshop and staff on hand to assist Guardsmen with resumes and interview tips.

“Alabama National Guard Soldiers are organized, skilled and responsible, making them ideal employees,” said Maj. Gen. Perry Smith, Adjutant General of the Alabama National Guard.  “The leadership skills and technical training the military provides soldiers make hiring Guardsmen a logical choice for employers.  Giving employers a chance to meet some of these great citizen-soldiers at this job fair is good opportunity for both.  I think the employers will be impressed with the quality of individuals found in the Alabama National Guard.”

In addition to the job fair, the three-day weekend will include seven races, autographs sessions, a fan walk on pit lane and an expanded fan zone.

Tickets are available at www.barbermotorsports.com.  With this year’s new print-at-home feature, fans can order their tickets and immediately print from the convenience of their home.  Ticket prices start at $10, but they will cost more at the gate beginning at midnight tonight, so spectators are encouraged to pre-order.

Throughout the weekend, kids 12 and under receive free general admission when accompanied by a ticketed adult.

In addition to tickets, spectators can also purchase tent camping and motor home camping. Limited quantities of these options, as well as tickets, are available.  For more information and to purchase tickets or camping, visit www.barbermotorsports.com.
