Week Six: Springville Highlights and Previews
Springville 13 Talladega 12
Last Friday’s game in Springville was a battle of running attacks, with visiting Talladega matching Springville’s two touchdowns, which included a 10-yard jet sweep by Springville’s Ryan Kelly that went for a score. Talladega’s inability to convert after their touchdowns gave Springville the one thing they needed to register their first win of the season.
Week Six Preview vs. Anniston
Despite having only won one game this season, Anniston gets consistent results on the ground. The Bulldogs go-to guy out of the backfield is junior tailback L.J. Heard, who is averaging more than 120 yards per game. Heard receives support from Edward Montgomery, who is a young player in the Anniston backfield with a nose for the end zone.
Springville should look carefully at the game film of senior quarterback Tae Miller who can run with blazing 4.5-40 speed, but is prone to throwing interceptions in his passing game.
Defensively, the Bulldogs put up a tenacious, relentless duo in junior safety Brashaud behind linebacker Tareeq Woods-Packer, who gets behind the line of scrimmage and registers more than his share of tackles-for-loss against opponents he has faced this year.
