All about Ashville

Before Thanksgiving, Ashvillians had already began making merry for the next holiday. But, before the festivities and events, congratulations to the Ashville High School football team.

The Bulldogs took a big bite out of their opponent with a final score of 33-6 to win the Sophomore Division Championship. Very impressive, gentleman. We can’t wait to see how well you do throughout the rest of your high school years on the field.

Boys and Girls Soccer team tryouts are Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be an interest meeting on Dec 3 at 1:25 p.m. Conditioning for those who do not play basketball will begin Nov. 30. What a great way to kick off the rest of the holiday season.

Searching for a perfect gift anyone will enjoy? The Ashville High School Marching band selling J&J candles for twelve dollars apiece. Check a gift off your list and support the Bulldog music makers.

Another opportunity to support a worthy cause is The Portrait Fundraiser. Purchase a mini portrait for $75 from Serren Bouska Bullingsworth on Nov. 28, 29, and Dec. 19. Hours vary, so call the studio or check online.

Proceeds go to our Civil Air Patrol. Military, CAP, and first responders receive a twenty percent discount. After getting your portrait made, drive over to Lakeside Park in Pell City. The Christmas lights are going up. And there will be 65 displays.

On Dec. 5th are two events. From 7:30-9:30 am, there will be Pastries with Santa at 5770 U.S. Highway 11 as well as pictures with Santa and more. The event is free, but registration is necessary so they don’t run out of goodies. There’s a link on Ashville’s Facebook page.

Beginning at 9 a.m. on the same day is the Christmas at Rhema Craft Show at Rhema Worship Center. For those of you who craft, they still have room for vendors.

Anyone interested in seeing The Pell City Line Dancer’s Christmas Dance on Dec. 12 may want to purchase their tickets now. Call 205-473-4063 or 205-335-0281. Tickets are $20.

Winning, giving and fun. Just another week in Ashville. Enjoy.
