‘Painkiller’ conference to reach people in St. Clair County
PELL CITY– The St. Clair County Baptist Association in partnership with Eden Westside Baptist Church will host a three-day Regional Conference May 3-5 based on the book “Painkillers” written by Rev. Jacky Connell.
This three-day event will include dynamic workshops, panel discussions with personal testimonies, encouraging breakout sessions and a time of celebration with Speaker, Dr. Ted Traylor, Pastor of Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida.
The book, “Painkillers,” covers the idea that “we do not have a drug epidemic, but we have a pain epidemic.” People are hurting so they are looking for ways to cope with their particular type of pain. When people run from pain, they run to something else. Most people think of drugs or alcohol, but there are other painkillers just as destructive as these. Seven types of painkillers are identified in the book and this weekend conference will deal with each one.
Panel discussion guests include Retired St. Clair County School Superintendent Jennie Seals, Tina Montgomery and Chip Treadwell. Breakout session facilitators include Rod Campbell – Therapist – LPC-S, Deona Durham – Eden Westside’s Director of Restoration Ministries and Rita Aiken Moritz – writer, poet, blogger, editor and inspirational speaker. Conference speakers include Rev. Connell and Dr. Traylor. Other associational pastors and leaders will participate in the weekend’s agenda.
A Youth Painkiller Conference is also scheduled for Friday Night, May 3, for all students in grades 7th-12th with a varied speaker line-up in the Eden Westside Student Worship Center.
In addition, an exciting three-day Shine Kids Conference is scheduled for Children in grades 1st-6th which includes relevant Bible teaching, fun, games, crafts and more. Also, preschool activities will be available for 0-5 years old that include Bible stories, music, games and more.
Make plans to attend this special weekend as this organization helps “real people dealing with real pain find answers from a real Savior!”
This conference is open to any church or individual regardless of church affiliation or lack of affiliation. There is no charge to attend any of these events, but registration is required so adequate seating and conference materials may be provided.
