Support St. Clair County culinary students’ trip to Nationals

High school students from across the county are looking to their community for help in sending them to Texas in April for a national culinary competition. The team has already overcome great odds to make it as far as they have in the competition, sweeping its competitors at the state tournament.

That team is heading to Texas for the National Prostart ® Invitational. Students will compete against other culinary teams from around the nation, competing for scholarships to culinary schools.

During the state culinary competition, the judges score teams on several factors including knife skills, cooking procedures, presentation, taste, sanitation, and teamwork. St. Clair County Culinary program, under the direction of Chef Allphin won first place by excelling in all of those area.

Teams participating in the management competition demonstrated their knowledge by developing a restaurant model and creating a presentation for the judges, who were acting as business investors. St. Clair County Culinary program won first place.

Both the Management Team and Culinary Team will represent ARHAEF in the National Prostart ® Invitational in Dallas, Texas April 28 – May 1, 2016. To help fund the journey they’re reaching out to the community for help. They hope to raise $8,000 by mid-April through sponsorships and a Go Fund Me account where individuals can contribute.
