Springville Happenings: See when St. Clair schools resume

Springville resident, farmer, international businessman and philanthropist, Richard Franklin “Frank” Buckner passed away Dec. 12. Mr. Bucker graduated from Springville High School in 1958 and was a local civic, business and religious leader in the area. He will be greatly missed. Donations in his honor can be made to the tax-deductible, Frank and Lillian Buckner Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation established in 2003 by Frank and Lillian’s children to honor them for their decades of generosity and to continue their charitable impact on the world. Springville Youth Association Soccer registration for Spring will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, Feb. 4 and 11 at the SMS Auditorium from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Storytime at Springville Library are Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and include a story, craft and snacks.

From the St Clair County EMA: Road Closure at Muckleroy Creek Bridge. AL State Hwy 11 from Whitney Junction/AL Hwy 231 to State Route 23, Springville to close to thru traffic on Monday, Dec. 12 for bridge work. Alternate Route: I-59. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work. Cadets also learn piloting skills.
