Leeds Moody news
The Leeds High School Softball Field ribbon cutting officially took place last Thursday afternoon after being rescheduled a couple of times due to rainout. Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce, Leeds High School officials, LHS Girls Softball Team, family and friends were there to celebrate. School officials performed a ceremonial ball throw after the ribbon cutting in celebration of the new press box as the girls’ team played against Moody.
If you haven’t already noticed, we now have a local Global Mail & Parcel Center in Moody. I was very excited to see this new business in the area. Prior to Global Mail, the closest package drop off was Trussville and there are very few places to send a fax when almost no one has a fax machine these days. Not only is this the perfect place to drop off your UPS, FedEx, DHL and USPS packages, Global Mail provides copy & print, fax, lamination services, passport photos, digital fingerprinting, notary services and more. Mailing and packaging supplies, boxes, miscellaneous cell phone accessories, Foster Grant sunglasses and more are among the retail products available. Andre’ and Sally Cazeau are the owners. The Cazeau’s are also Moody residents and are excited to serve customers in their home town. The business has been open for eight months now and is located at 733 Park Avenue, Suite 200. I hope you will stop in to patronize this new business soon!
There is so much confusion right now, because this type of emergency is new to us. We encourage you to contact any organization prior to showing up for an event to insure that the event is still happening. As you know, you can find out most information on upcoming events by visiting each organization’s website, Facebook page and other social media.
It’s important that we all realize that we are not alone, even though we may be spending a lot of time alone in solitude away from others and crowds for a few days. No man is an island and we all need each other. Let’s never forget that! We have so many ways to stay in touch virtually so during this time, utilize social media, Facetime, Skype, phone calls, texts and more. Think about those who live alone and make a few phone calls this week.
Thought for the Week: Remember to be courteous and understanding of others when we are in the hunt for that toilet paper and practice social distancing along with proper handwashing techniques!
I thoroughly enjoy sharing information, news and calendar items with you each week and I thank you for reading my column. Please remember to send any news to me at leedsmoodynews@gmail.com and have a great week!
