Bryan Shaeffer with St. Clair County EMA was the guest speaker for the Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce meeting on Monday, Sept. 10.

Bryan Shaeffer has been with the St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency for 19 years.  He currently works as the EMA Planner with responsibilities to develop and maintain response and recovery plans for the County to include the County Emergency Operations Plan, Hazard Mitigation Plan, Training and Exercise Plan, among many others.

He also develops and updates Department of Public Health response plans for pandemic flu, anthrax and other biological hazards.  Schaeffer coordinates responses to hazardous material incidents with ADEM, AEMA, clean-up contractors and local responders.  He acts as the EOC Operations and Planning Section Officer during large scale disasters/events.  

Schaeffer also works as the Department of Homeland Security Master Exercise Practitioner to develop training and exercises for the county that meet Department of Homeland Security criteria.

His previous emergency management experience includes Boy Scouts Eagle Scout Project, USAF as a Security Specialists, Transportation, Disaster Preparedness Instructor and more. 

Schaeffer spoke about what is new with the St. Clair County EMA and what some of their plans are for the area.
